On February 18, local health department directors and staff from across Kentucky gathered in Frankfort for Public Health Advocacy Day, meeting with local senators and representatives to advocate for public health and the vital role local health departments play in communities across the Commonwealth.
The day provided an important opportunity for public health leaders to engage directly with lawmakers, share the needs and priorities of local health departments, and highlight the impact of public health services in Kentucky. From protecting families and preventing disease to improving community wellness and strengthening local systems of care, advocacy efforts like these help ensure public health remains a priority at the state level.
Representatives from health departments across Kentucky participated in conversations with legislators and other leaders throughout the day, reinforcing the importance of continued support and investment in public health infrastructure and services.
