KHDA Representatives Advocate for Public Health During Hill Day in Washington, D.C.
Representatives from the Kentucky Health Departments Association (KHDA), the Kentucky Association of Local Boards of Health (KALBOH), and local health departments across the Commonwealth recently traveled to Washington, D.C., for Hill Day to meet with members of Kentucky’s congressional delegation and their staff.
The visit provided an important opportunity for public health leaders, board of health members, and advocates to represent Kentucky’s local public health system at the national level. Throughout the day, attendees met with legislative offices to discuss the importance of public health funding, support for local health departments, and the continued need for strong partnerships that protect and improve the health of Kentucky communities.
Among those representing Kentucky during Hill Day were public health directors, board of health members, and public health advocates from across the state. Their presence underscored the collaborative role of KHDA, KALBOH, and local health departments in advancing the health and well-being of Kentuckians.
Meetings and photo opportunities included visits with the offices of Senator Mitch McConnell, Senator Rand Paul, Representative Andy Barr, Representative Brett Guthrie, and Representative James Comer.
Hill Day serves as a valuable opportunity for Kentucky’s public health leaders and advocates to share the real needs, challenges, and successes of local health departments directly with federal policymakers. By engaging in these conversations, KHDA and KALBOH continue to champion the essential role of public health in every Kentucky community.
